Black Roses

By: Devon Hicks

Your memorizing look reminds me of a black roses
Babygirl your beautiful from your head to your toes

Black is beautiful
You are descendants of Kings and Queens
There’s greatness in your genes

Your smile is like a emerald gleaming
Your skin is rich like a French coffee bean

Your presence deserves respect
Last time I checked

We’ve been neglected
Always rejected

People come at our necks
It creates a negative affect

But then a black president was elected
I love him so much, I respected

With my heritage I feel connected
But people love to spread hate, there hearts are too infected

Love and peace is the cure
Your skin isn’t a curse it’s pure

Oh my beautiful black rose
You’re outstanding and it will show
