It is Black History Month, hooray! I would have to admit though, I almost forgot about such a magnificent period of time. No, not because I am “woke” and overstand this is the shortest month of the year, nor am I “woke” and proclaim with a proud chest “Black history is everyday and not just a month!”. No I simply am human, with the trappings of society, namely coronavirus and the education system I was distracted. Oh what a joy it is though to now be clear of that smoky room, now I can see and have realized that indeed it is February! A month we celebrate the great and rich history of the melanated – Black peoples of the world. From Africa the mother, to North and South America, to the West Indies and all the way to the Pacific Islands, this nation is great. Although this is a month all together shorter than any other month, we will not be held up by those little factoids meant to distract us. Yes we know of the many ways that the powers of the world symbolically and systematically use to further the oppression of the melanated peoples both mentally and physically. We think that is more important to circulate the message of our collective prosperity, wealth, and culture! Long live Africa, Long Live her peoples, and Long live her history!
