Let the Love of the Lord
Descend as the Sun and his rays
They touch the Sunflowers whose petals
Have been singed by the heat of the days
Just as I ascend up to him
Like the evaporated waters of the Blue Nile
Let the Love of the Lord
Cure those who are febrile
Descending like a Jaguar from its tree
I come as a child with a cut on my knee
Like an Abyssinian Lion bowing at the king’s feet
Here I am strong, full of courage, living meek
Let the Love of the Lord
Descend and fill my heart
Letting peace in from the very start
Just like honey to its comb
Here again, facing Jericho but not alone
Yes, these trumpets have called me back home
Just as I ascend up to him
Detaching my flesh and letting the Lord in
Seeing there’s no point in letting the war in
I surrender to the inevitable
Disregarding the fable and lies of the roaring
Seeking the will of the father whose love I’ve been storing
See now
Just as a dove escaping the darkness of death
Let peace be my religion on this spiritual quest
Let the Love of the Lord
Reign from the lights of the East
To the shadows of the West
For I say, the Love of the Lord is the Best
