It’s the calm before the storm

It all seems fine

Young men are finally able

To go out and dine

But it’s the calm before the storm

In months we’ll face tragedies

In years we’ll see the rise of

Independent armies

People black and white both rallying

De facto segregation still bullying

The people of my town

It been years but they’re still after my crown

It’s the calm before the storm

The life in death I must say

To many young males facing judgement day

How many civil rights parades

Must we attend

Before you except your child as gay

Yet it’s the calm before the storm

The quiet in the night

Sooner or later another tiki torch fight

The calm before the storm is the

Masked terror

The calm before the storm is the reminder

That peace won’t last forever

It’s the calm before the storm
